During my last flight from Mumbai (my birth town) to Melbourne, I had a sense for the first time in six years that I was coming home, I must have been projecting this sense. Not because I was granted a permanent residency last year, but the officer at the immigration counter greeted me with a smile and said “Welcome home, Sir”. This statement fired a sense of motivation, positive energy and a sense of belonging, leading to a more fulfilling life and many achievements yet to accomplish. It’s also this feeling of being home that makes my life more valuable in Melbourne and helps me cope when things are rough.

My journey at Evolution Business Systems (EBS) started as a Solution Specialist and has been one of the most challenging and insightful roles in my career thus far. Thankfully I am continuously being looked after, not only with all the critical training required for working with Dynamics NAV, but with the the expert guidance from our experienced EBS consultants to ensure I’m continually learning and producing work that meets EBS standards.

One of the important aspects that I have learnt during my time at EBS is to build strong relationships with our clients. Over the past 3 months I have been visiting clients with my fellow EBS consultants and watching how they interact and assist our clients to solve their business, operational and IT problems. Combined with the training and mentoring provided, I am now becoming more confident in my role. However, the critical element that has contributed to this increased self-confidence is the “sense of belonging” that I feel when I am at work. The culture of EBS wraps this sense of belonging in a unique way that poses a challenge to young consultants like myself. In such a short time I have realised that I have become an important part of the EBS family, contributing to our values and continually strive to optimise our clients’ business processes. I believe that this core EBS value creates a greater sense of responsibility and accountability to maintain the culture and continue to serve our clients in the best way possible.
